A huge thank you to 9 and 10 year olds Chayse, Ryan, Ashton and Darcy!

They have raised over $10,000 for Mission Australia to help those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

After seeing the desperate situations of many people experiencing homelessness during trips to Melbourne, the boys knew they wanted to make a difference. So they set out to design and sell t-shirts and other merchandise to raise funds in their hometown of Henty, NSW.

Their first event was a ‘fish and chips night’ with a live and silent auction. A Mission Australia support worker – Jeremy Polkinghorne – spoke at the event and inspired many with stories of how we are able to help those in need.

Using donations from sponsors, they designed and printed a range of merchandise to raise further funds and awareness of the issue of homelessness. They recently sold these items at the Henty Football Club’s last home game and are still selling items at the Henty Bakery. The merchandise has the acronym “CRAD” on it – a combination of the boys’ first initials – and the hashtag #homelessnothopeless.

The whole community of Henty has rallied behind their efforts and we support them all the way too! Through their hearts of generosity to help others, many people will be able to get the help they need to get back on their feet and gain independence. Great work, boys!
