You can host a Sleepout in your backyard, at school, at work, with your sports club, church or other community groups. Prefer to keep it low-key? Get involved by hosting a Pyjama Day instead.

Over 30 years of Sleepouts
On a cold winter’s night in 1988, a small, but passionate group of Mission Australia staff huddled together in the Sydney CBD for the first ever Sleepout to raise awareness to the growing homelessness crisis in Australia.
In the 90's, the movement grew and over 10,000 people joined the Sleepout on the steps of the Sydney Opera House. Since then, over 50,000 people have taken part, raising over $3million to help end homelessness.

How Mission Australia helps people and communities in need
Since 1859, we’ve been standing alongside people in need across Australia, offering real hope that has lasting impact.
Every day we deliver homelessness crisis and prevention services, provide social and affordable housing, assist struggling families and children, address mental health issues, fight substance dependencies, support people with disability and much more.
Mission Australia believes a person’s circumstances shouldn’t define their future and that given the right support, everyone can reach their full potential.
