Microsoft Sleepout

School Assembly Address

Last Monday my Junior School Principal Ms Albertini gave me the opportunity to address the assembly and mention my cause, because she was moved by it.  This is what I said:

School Assembly Address

8:00 am

Every time I go to the city to visit Mum at her work or just shopping, I get curious about all the homeless people making their beds on the side of the streets. I ask mum many questions about them and she ends up with no answers.

Until last Christmas during my school holidays I learnt Mum joined Mission Australia to serve Christmas Lunch to the homeless. I really wanted to help serve lunch as well, but kids were not allowed.

However my voice didn't go unheard! So this year thanks to Microsoft and Mission Australia I have the opportunity experience homelessness by sleeping in a cardboard box for a night on June 14th to 15th. My experience will help me answer my many questions and support 116,000 people homeless in Australia, amongst which 44,000 are children.

Reaching out for sponsorship is an amazing experience. Getting out of my comfort zone is not comfortable and everyone have been really encouraging so far. Your sponsorship can help!

 $22

can buy a set of bed sheets to give   a child a comfortable place to sleep

 $116

can buy a desk, chair and  reading lamp to help a child study

$313

can house a young person for a month at one of Mission Australia crisis centres

If you are like me who is also moved by homelessness in Australia, then you can help by sponsoring me on my sleepout. To make a fully tax deductible donation you can  speak to your class teacher who will forward you my page on Mission Australia Fundraiser.

Thank you for listening to me and thank you to KRB for giving me the voice.
